About the author
After tweeting about my experiences as a person with ADHD in higher education for a few years (started rambling on Twitter in 2017), I thought there might be a space on the internet for exploring disability and ADHD in academia. I hope my experiences might be able to help students, teaching assistants, professors, researchers, and academics in general understand what it's like to have ADHD in higher education and how to fight the ableism discrimination common in colleges and universities everywhere.
There's a reason @theADHDAcademic Twitter account is an anonymous account and there's a reason why this website will remain anonymous That said, there are some basics it might be helpful to know about me:
I wasn't diagnosed with ADHD until my last year as an undergraduate, just a few months before I graduated.

Purpose of this site
This site serves as a space for me to organize my thoughts around ADHD, higher education, and research. It's also a place to go into more depth than social media accounts may allow and to express myself more creatively beyond Tweets. Students with ADHD entering their first year of college, professors wanting to know how their ADHD learners might differ from others, graduate students with ADHD who are teaching for the first time, or someone who graduated years ago but is learning a new skill and who has ADHD all might find content here that is useful. I hope the audience will be diverse and include anyone who is interested in ADHD, learning, and teaching whether in an official or unofficial capacity.
The site is primarily organized into two sections: learners and teachers. We're all students in some contexts and, at other times, we're the ones doing the teaching. There are categories or tags to further break things down into undergraduate, graduate, and so forth, but some of the content will be applicable to anyone wanting to learn who has ADHD. I highly recommend the search bar at the bottom of the page.
